Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh has announced a 38-member state team to participate in the 15th National Vovinam Martial Arts Championship, scheduled to be held at the Bhagwati Nagar Indoor Stadium in Jammu from September 3 to 6.

The state team has been selected from different age categories, with 21 players from Lucknow representing Uttar Pradesh at the national-level competition. Sports kits were distributed to the selected players at the UP Sports Academy ahead of the championship.
According to Praveen Garg, General Secretary of the Uttar Pradesh Vovinam Association, the selected athletes will compete in various categories and aim to showcase their skills at the national stage.
Among the selected players from Lucknow are athletes including Sani, Lucky Singh Gautam, Nikhil Rawat, Ali Khan, Divyanshu Kashyap, Prince Maurya, Tushar Kumar, Shaurya Gautam, Arjun Yadav, Abhishek Pal and Altmash Khan. In the girls’ category, Deepanshi Jaiswal, Anushka Maurya, Rumana Suhail, Anandita Gautam and Khushi Chaurasia, among others, will represent the state.

Mansi Jaiswal will serve as the team manager, while Nitesh Yadav has been appointed team coach.
The four-day national championship is expected to bring together around 700 athletes from 27 states, competing across kids, sub-junior, junior and senior categories, covering age groups from 6 to 35 years. Participants will compete in 56 weight categories, alongside demonstrations showcasing the skills and techniques of Vovinam martial arts.
Players selected in the senior and junior categories at the national championship will also get an opportunity to represent India at the 6th Asian Vovinam Championship, scheduled to be held in Nam Phenh, Cambodia, from November 24 to 30.
The Uttar Pradesh contingent is now set to take on the country’s best Vovinam athletes, with the young players from Lucknow looking to make their mark on the national stage.
